Blue Sapphire

Neelam · नीलमSaturn (Shani)

Blue corundum — linked to Saturn, and the one stone the tradition itself says to test first.

A blue sapphire — a photograph of the stone type, not of a specific item
A photograph of blue sapphire as a type — not the item you would receive. Every stone is individual; the one we quote you is photographed for you.

What it is

Natural corundum coloured blue by iron and titanium. Ceylon, Burmese and Kashmir material differ greatly in value. Hard and durable.

What the classical texts associate with it

  • discipline
  • patience
  • steady long-term work

These are traditional associations recorded in the classical literature. They are not claims about what will happen, and nothing here is medical, financial or legal advice.

Certification

Supplied with a laboratory report identifying the species, the origin where determinable, and whether the stone is natural and untreated. The report describes the stone itself — it says nothing about results.

Choosing the right one

Sold by carat, with the widest price spread of any stone here — the same weight can differ by a factor of twenty on origin and colour alone.

Looking after it

  • Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Avoid household cleaners and ultrasonic cleaners.
  • Store separately — a harder stone will scratch a softer one.
  • Remove before swimming or using chemicals.

This one needs a reading first

Blue Sapphire is the stone the tradition itself tells you to be careful with — classical practice holds that it can work against a wearer it does not suit. We will not source one for somebody whose chart nobody has looked at. Start with a reading; if it points here, we will say so and source it then.
